Célyne is a queer artist and versatile composer whose work spans film, live performance, and contemporary music. Immersed from an early age in the imaginative worlds of genre cinema through the neighborhood cinema run by her father in Nice, she grew up surrounded by seminal works ranging from science fiction to arthouse film.

At the age of ten, a life-changing encounter through photography marked a decisive turning point: her discovery of Japan, which became a major thread running through both her artistic and personal journey. She later studied classical piano and Japanese in Paris, deepening this connection.

Drawing on these two powerful musical and cultural influences, she developed Heart of Wolves, a project blending post-folk and contemporary composition. Acclaimed by the press, the project went on to perform more than 120 concerts across Europe.

Her deep connection to Japan eventually led her to live in Kyoto for two years, a formative experience that profoundly transformed her approach to creativity, time, and listening, and continues to inform her work today.

As a composer with a strong passion for science fiction and genre cinema, Célyne has developed a distinctive sonic world in which the boundaries between acoustic, vocal, and electronic music dissolve. She explores hybrid textures, combining unconventional timbres with contemporary writing techniques to create immersive, powerful, and unapologetically cinematic experiences.

In 2024, Célyne made her mark on the international scene: she was a finalist for the Label Compo initiative by La Maison du Film and nominated for the Cannes Sync Awards. She also took part in the 3rd Character programme in Ghent as part of the World Soundtrack Awards, Music Meets Film at Tallinn’s Black Nights Film Festival, and the Talent Village at the Festival des Arcs.

She composed the original score for Kill the Horse by Xiaoruo Guo, a Chinese animated film that received the Best Animated Short Film Award at the 2024 Shanghai International Film Festival.

In September 2025, she was selected for the TRIO Residency, organised by La Maison du Film.

In 2026, she composed the score for the feature-length documentary Dans mon ventre by Joséphine Jourdan, produced by Melocoton Films for France Télévisions (2026), as well as the music for the short film Total Éclipse by Marie Culerrier, produced by Le GREC.

Célyne is continuing to expand her international slate with several upcoming projects, including the thriller short film Ceci n’est pas un serpent by Amine Bussel, produced by Dunk Films (2026); Cold Wave by Julie Estival, produced by Curb Films (2027); and a Dutch animated fantasy thriller by Erik Van Schaaik (2027).

In May 2026, Célyne was selected as one of the five “Composers on the Rise” in the international Spot the Composer programme at the Cannes Film Festival, further establishing her as a distinctive and compelling emerging voice in screen composition.
