Julien Jaouen
Julien Jaouen is a graduate of the CIM jazz department and has twice been recognised by the Real World competition (Peter Gabriel's label). His career as a composer began in theatre and short films. In 2014, Dominique Farrugia commissioned him to compose his first original film score for Bis, starring Kad Merad and Franck Dubosc. In 2016, he collaborated with filmmakers Yvan Attal and Evgueni and Sacha Galperine to compose the original score for the film Ils sont partout. In 2017, he collaborated with Farrugia for a second time on the film Sous le même toit, starring Gilles Lellouche and Louise Bourgoin. That same year, he won the CSDEM award for best documentary music for Vivre avec les loups, directed by Guillaume Maidatchevsky.
He also composed the series Playground, directed by Olivier Schneider and Pascal Sid for the Blackpills platform. In 2019, Julien's collaboration with Guillaume Maidatchevsky reached the big screen with the film Aïlo, une odyssée en Laponie (Aïlo, an Odyssey in Lapland), which achieved the highest box office takings in Finland for a French film.
This has continued with two more cinema releases: Mon chat et moi, la grande aventure de Rroû (My Cat and Me, the Great Adventure of Rroû) and Kina & Yuk. Having co-composed the original music for season two of Rotem Shamir's No Man's Land, Julien has just finished working with Ronan Maillard on the original music for Dominique Farrugia's series Enquêtes en famille.
