LoW Etertainment

LoW Entertainment (pronounced 'love') is a collective of three musicians – Alexandre Lier, Nicolas Weil, and Sylvain Ohrel – who founded the group in 1998 with a focus on film music.

Notably, they composed the soundtracks for Hippocrate, Médecin de campagne, Première année, a trilogy directed by Thomas Lilti; Party Girl, directed by Claire Burger, Marie Amachoukeli and Samuel Theis (winner of the Caméra d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival); La stratégie de la poussette, directed by Clément Michel; Comme t’y es belle, directed by Lisa Azuelos; the series Hard and Vernon Subutex, directed by Cathy Verney; J’ai deux amours, directed by Clément Michel; and, more recently, Slalom, the multi-award-winning debut feature film by Charlène Favier, and Hippocrate, a Canal+ series adapted by Thomas Lilti. The first series by Florence Foresti and Lycée Toulouse-Lautrec, which was nominated for Best Series at the 2022 Fiction Festival, showcases a collaborative approach that contrasts sharply with the traditional solitary image of the film composer.

This approach sees them blend personal influences, based on a critical dynamic that serves as both a working method and a source of inspiration. They champion a sound that mixes electrified instruments, vintage synthesizers, and traditional orchestration, blending references to the French orchestral pop of the '60s and '70s (Serge Gainsbourg, Jean-Claude Vannier, and François de Roubaix) with more contemporary sounds from the current scene (Gonzales, Air, and Sébastien Tellier).
